Happy Thanksgiving From South Africa!

Today M and I are in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is working and I am catching up on emails and this blog and will probably go walk around the neighborhood near the hotel while waiting for M to come back. No Thanksgiving dinner for us this year but maybe a nice steak dinner with a nice SA wine.

This trip has so far been pretty amazing. Of course M has seen all the things that have made me excited…she says that it is her goal to make me “more worldly” whatever that means. In any case, I’ve seen a lot of Cape Town, been up Table Mountain by cable car, seen incredible poverty in the Townships, been to the Cape of Good Hope and seen “the end of the world”, seen penguins, baboons, beautiful birds, daissies, and ostrich (all in the wild on the same day no less), ate some fabulous meals and visited the Franschhoek wine region where we tasted some amazing wine! The photos I’ve taken of the Cape of Good Hope (and will post later on) cannot replicate what it looks like in real life. It is truly an amazing and awe inspiring sight to see!! On Saturday we are heading to a game park where hopefully we will see elephants, zebras and other wild African animals. I brought my nice camera so hopefully I can take some nice photos to share.

I’ve got a lot to be thankful for today….a loving family, a beautiful loving partner, a goofy dog and cat that I miss too much, friends who are my “other” family, great health, two beautiful places to live, and the opportunity to “become more worldly” and see incredible things. I hope everyone who reads this has a very happy Thanksgiving and know that I love and miss you all.

Now, if I could only find a piece of pumpkin pie my life would be complete….

  1. I’ll eat a piece of pumpkin pie in you honor. At this rate of travel, you will become worldly in about 3 weeks. I am happy for you.
